Confused about iPhone Dual-Sim, eSim, Physical Dual-Sim, Single-Sim ?????.....
Here is a simple guide to take you through to the only two sim card variants of the most recent iPhones (XR, XS, XS Max, 11, 11 Pro and 11 Pro Max)
Variant ONE – Single Sim with eSim support
This variant support single sim card, for example a Gibtel sim card. It further support a second number using its eSim feature.
What is an eSIM?
An eSIM takes the place of the small plastic SIM card your phone uses now. The advantage of an eSIM is that it's embedded into the phone, and can be programmed -- and reprogrammed -- to work with various carriers. Eventually, it makes sense for phone makers and carriers to adopt eSIM technology instead of having to manage the plastic SIM cards that have been a staple of cellular technology. Gibtel, at the time of writing does not support eSim contracts.
Variant TWO – Physical Dual-Sim
This support, TWO physical Dual-Sim cards. i.e. you can install two different GibTel sim cards into your phone, allowing full usage for incoming and outgoing calling + data features.
The biggest drawback for using this variant is that it is not covered by warranty outside of China and Hong Kong. Infact this variant is only released in China and Hong Kong, and during a recent visit to Apple store, it was confirmed these variants are not supported for warranty in Europe, as all Apple stores outside of China and Hong Kong would only stock parts and replacement handsets for Variant ONE.
